Description of the establishment

Located in the heart of the wine region of the Maconnais, South Burgundy, the castle of Igé offers 10 rooms and 7 suites fully renovated in 2017 with taste by the new owner Georges Blanc. Housed in a castle of the 13th century and surrounded by wild gardens of the 18th century and its swimming-pool, the castle of Igé is a true haven of peace and greenery. Built in 1235, this 4-star hotel offers medieval rooms with modern comfort. All decorated in a different style, each one with her own personality. Suites are spacious and made for you to relax and feel like home but in a framework dating back over 750 years. Some has four-poster bed.

I would highly recommend the Chateau d'Ige. The chateau was incredible along with the grounds and service. The little town it is in is really fun to explore on bike as well. I would definitely stay again.

A very attractive place to stay in a beautiful area. The gardens and public areas are lovely. The meal on the first night was excellent but the standard seemed to fall on the second night. Presentation of the food was not as good - the salad d”I’ge was most appetisingly presented on the first night with a delicate dressing ; on the following it looked like it had been thrown together with a hurried dressing of balsamic vinegar.

A finely appointed luxury hotel in a tiny village in southern Burgundy. There is an excellent gastronomic restaurant on the premises, as well as a bistro. Staff are very professional and attend to details. The location is wonderfully quiet yet within driving distance of most of the attractions of Burgundy.

We were treated like royalty when we stayed. The staff stayed up late for us to check in when we arrived and continued the impeccable service throughout. Super comfortable beds, supplemented by the Jereboams of Chartreuse readily on hand will cure even the most hardened insomniacs.

A stunning 13th century castle with heaps of character but all mod cons. The staff were super friendly and help and the food (dinner and breakfast) delicious. We had a tower room and therefore beuatiful views. I would love to go back in the summer to experience the terrace and the pool, but still had a very memorable weekend.

Een geweldig leuk kasteel hotel waar de sfeer van weleer nog heerst. Geen lift bijvoorbeeld maar wel een sfeervolle torentrap naar mooie grote en sfeervolle kamers. Hier en daar misschien iets gedateerd maar dat hoort gewoon bij het oude kasteel. En het wordt meer dan gecompenseerd door het fantastische restaurant, met grote openhaard, een goedemenukaart en een prachtige wijnkaart. Gewoon erg goed en een omweg waard! Dus, wil je sfeervol overnachten, lekker eten en sfeervol slapen...doen! O ja, en dicht bij de Route du Soleil...

Hospitable and professional staff. The Chateau is very fortunate to have Sandrine at the reception desk. Food and restaurant staff also first rate. The grounds were pleasant and attractive and the guestroom comfortable. They need to fix the main door lock on the room we had -- very difficult to use.

Been delighting in the Chateau for some years and across three owners. M.Blanc, a local man who loves Ige, bought the place in January. Already there''s a pool and much good, improving work on the bedrooms with the individual character being carefully retained. The chef was sitting at the next table eating through his menu to be sure that his quality and standard were maintained were he away. Called 'The Veranda' a new dining room has been established, looking out on the terrace saving the old rooms for the end of the week. The food was perfect. A new maitre d' will be a pleasure to meet again. Sandrine still runs the front desk with the warmth and efficiency that's always been her tradmark.

We have been staying overnight at the Chateau d'Igé once or twice a year for over ten years. We had recently been rather disappointed in our stay but this time we thought the standard had improved. The food, as it always has been, is not quite as good as it should be. Excellent ingredients, but not quite cooked or presented right. My first course was tasteless and my husband's main course not good. This time the service at dinner was very slow and the waiter (not his fault, he was trying his best) was too rushed to listen to our complaint about this. Apart from this the service was excellent.

I visited chateau D'Ige with my parents as a child decades ago. Last year whilst travelling to the South of France I stayed with my daughter and it was a nice experience but everywhere very very tired. This year I saw a review in a french gourmet magazine saying had been modernised so we decided to stay as a family, again whilst travelling. It is in the process of being modernised and the whole experience was lovely, though once the bathrooms are upgraded, hopefully. and the area grassed around the new pool, it is going to bed magical. Staff were lovely, food great. We will be back next time we travel through France

Characterful establishment in tranquil location. Lovely restaurant location on a bridge over a pond with fish and frogs, and trees full of bird song. Food very good. Bathroom lacked quality with a shower screen incapable of avoiding flooding and bath that was slippery without provision of a bath mat.

It is always nice to return to Ige. It was lovely to see the hotel after all the recent refurbishment work has been completed - very sympathetic and has maintained the relaxing character of the Chateau. We stayed in Tour de l'est - lovely. The introduction of the mini bar and Nespresso machine are welcome additions to the rooms. It was nice to see many of the team were still at the Chateau - and a few faces that we have not seen for a quite some time. Always welcoming and always friendly. The team must be congratulated at completing such an amazing transformation of the Chateau in such a short space of time and I really hope that Ige will continue to be the wonderful relaxing place that we found around 15 years ago.

c'est la quatrième fois que j'arrive au chateau, et il faut répéter: qualité, assistance, comfort et surtout... la surprise d'une chambre comme la 'Hirondelle' qui m'étonne toutes fois que j'ouvre les yeux le matin. Igné c'est se plonger dans un passé très ancien, toujours vivant.

My wife and I stayed at this fantastic Chateau hotel located in the beautiful Macon countryside. It has been beautifully restored with huge and well fitted out bedrooms, which are very quiet. Despite the changes in ownership, albeit, with some minor initial hiccups, the hotel remains one of the most beautiful, charming and relaxing residences. In addition, the food and drink is of the highest qualities. I cannot fault the service, the staff are engaging and welcoming in a truly beautiful part of the country.

Pretty chateau with towers. Lovely gardens with lily pond. Friendly and helpful staff especially in recommending a vineyard with tastings within walking distance. Several dining rooms but we ate in the garden overlooking lily pond. Food delicious. Good menu. Our room was in the tower and had padded fabric decor on the walls. Small bedroom but additional sitting area. All unique in style and very comfy and sympathetic with the age of the building.

The chateau is very beautiful and tranquil and has the most lovely garden where dinner is served on fine days. It is located conveniently for a nights stop on route to the south of France. I would highly recommend the Chateau d'Ige. The chateau was incredible along with the grounds and service. The little town it is in is really fun to explore on bike as well. I would definitely stay again.

A very attractive place to stay in a beautiful area. The gardens and public areas are lovely. The meal on the first night was excellent but the standard seemed to fall on the second night. Presentation of the food was not as good - the salad d”I’ge was most appetisingly presented on the first night with a delicate dressing ; on the following it looked like it had been thrown together with a hurried dressing of balsamic vinegar.

A stunning 13th century castle with heaps of character but all mod cons. The staff were super friendly and help and the food (dinner and breakfast) delicious. We had a tower room and therefore beuatiful views. I would love to go back in the summer to experience the terrace and the pool, but still had a very memorable weekend.

Een geweldig leuk kasteel hotel waar de sfeer van weleer nog heerst. Geen lift bijvoorbeeld maar wel een sfeervolle torentrap naar mooie grote en sfeervolle kamers. Hier en daar misschien iets gedateerd maar dat hoort gewoon bij het oude kasteel. En het wordt meer dan gecompenseerd door het fantastische restaurant, met grote openhaard, een goedemenukaart en een prachtige wijnkaart. Gewoon erg goed en een omweg waard! Dus, wil je sfeervol overnachten, lekker eten en sfeervol slapen...doen! O ja, en dicht bij de Route du Soleil...

The grounds were pleasant and attractive and the guestroom comfortable. They need to fix the main door lock on the room we had -- very difficult to use.

Been delighting in the Chateau for some years and across three owners. M.Blanc, a local man who loves Ige, bought the place in January. Already there''s a pool and much good, improving work on the bedrooms with the individual character being carefully retained. The chef was sitting at the next table eating through his menu to be sure that his quality and standard were maintained were he away. Called 'The Veranda' a new dining room has been established, looking out on the terrace saving the old rooms for the end of the week. The food was perfect. A new maitre d' will be a pleasure to meet again. Sandrine still runs the front desk with the warmth and efficiency that's always been her tradmark.

We have been staying overnight at the Chateau d'Igé once or twice a year for over ten years. We had recently been rather disappointed in our stay but this time we thought the standard had improved. The food, as it always has been, is not quite as good as it should be. Excellent ingredients, but not quite cooked or presented right. My first course was tasteless and my husband's main course not good. This time the service at dinner was very slow and the waiter (not his fault, he was trying his best) was too rushed to listen to our complaint about this. Apart from this the service was excellent.

I visited chateau D'Ige with my parents as a child decades ago. Last year whilst travelling to the South of France I stayed with my daughter and it was a nice experience but everywhere very very tired. This year I saw a review in a french gourmet magazine saying had been modernised so we decided to stay as a family, again whilst travelling. It is in the process of being modernised and the whole experience was lovely, though once the bathrooms are upgraded, hopefully. and the area grassed around the new pool, it is going to bed magical. Staff were lovely, food great. We will be back next time we travel through France

It is always nice to return to Ige. It was lovely to see the hotel after all the recent refurbishment work has been completed - very sympathetic and has maintained the relaxing character of the Chateau. We stayed in Tour de l'est - lovely. The introduction of the mini bar and Nespresso machine are welcome additions to the rooms. It was nice to see many of the team were still at the Chateau - and a few faces that we have not seen for a quite some time. Always welcoming and always friendly. The team must be congratulated at completing such an amazing transformation of the Chateau in such a short space of time and I really hope that Ige will continue to be the wonderful relaxing place that we found around 15 years ago.

c'est la quatrième fois que j'arrive au chateau, et il faut répéter: qualité, assistance, comfort et surtout... la surprise d'une chambre comme la 'Hirondelle' qui m'étonne toutes fois que j'ouvre les yeux le matin. Igné c'est se plonger dans un passé très ancien, toujours vivant.

Despite the changes in ownership, albeit, with some minor initial hiccups, the hotel remains one of the most beautiful, charming and relaxing residences.
