Opening the door is like turning a page. La Cognette evokes a whole chapter of French literature from the Berry region. Georges Sand is there, of course, but the restaurant is first and foremost a tribute to Balzac's “La Rabouilleuse”. The dishes are perfectly suited to the snug décor, with names that suggest paintings we would like to frame with precious gilding: “Cream of green lentils with truffles”, “Lobster tournedos in meat bouillon” and “Apple ravioli with apricot coulis”. Just a stone's throw away, 19 individual bedrooms and suites are the perfect place to gently draw the chapter to a close.
