« Simply marvel at this rural baserri farmhouse and its superb views of the Rhune »

Description of the establishment

This fine seventeenth-century Basque farm is perched high on a hill opposite Larrun, where the Pyrenees begin. The accommodation part of the establishment, accessed via its noble façade, has retained all its authenticity. The west façade and restaurant have a more contemporary feel. The Grange Bar greets its guests warmly, reflecting the owners' desire to ensure great comfort throughout. The fine refurbishment bears the signature of its architect while the impeccable décor by Flamant contributes towards enhancing the oldest parts of the building.

Enjoyed stay and cuisine.

We came for the restaurant, and it was well worth the trip. Exceptionally imaginative cuisine.

Great place but penalties for not booking direct
4.5
great location, decoration, food was fantastic and staff really lovely. The only issue I have is that customers are penalised for booking through bookings sites such as booking.com, as for the same rate breakfast is not included. I don't think this is fair and it is a real shame considering everything else at the auberge was amazing. I don't think your customers should have to pay a price just because websites charge you a fee - that's your business not ours.

This is a great destination if you are anywhere in the Basque region. The hotel is very nice, the staff very accommodating, and the chef is outstanding. This is at least our 6th visit in the last 8 years.

We were very happy with the location of the hotel (in the countryside),accessibility and amenities. The hotel was charming and stylish. The ladies on reception were equally charming and helpful. The bedroom faced towards the road and car park, but there was not a problem with noise. The bed was huge and comfortable, as was the shower. The hotel allowed dogs which was useful as we always travel with our dog.

Nice restaurant, nice hotel but staff only polite and not real friendly. Breakfast is a big rip off.
L'Auberge Basque
Wonderful and charming property, but the restaurant is the real focus
4.4
Great hotel, beautiful location, delicious restaurant. So many good things about the property, and over all a wonderful stay. Would definitely return and recommend it because it was so charming, but guests should be aware it is a Restaurant first and a hotel second. Had trouble finding a person for check in because the front desk staff also worked in the restaurant and was preparing for the evening's dinner. Same with check out. There are also very few common spaces that are not connected to the restaurant or where you might not be in the way should the restaurant be in operation.

Fab location, wonderful place but don't take the bottle of water away!!!!
3.9
After paying 215 euros (plus 4 euros each for the two dogs), no tea or coffee facilities in the room - we were more than disappointed to receive an email the day after we left telling us that we would be charged a further 2 euros for taking the bottle of water provided in our room with us when we left at 0545hrs. No room service at that time! This really was petty and really took the shine off our short stay there. The room wa lovely, as was the amazing bed-a great nights sleep. Staff did their best to accommodate our early arrival and early departure. The Chateau and grounds were beautiful.

The hotel was lovely. The grounds are spacious with a tremendous view. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was fabulous! Celine was extremely helpful and very attentive. You couldn't ask for more from an employee.

This is situated in a beautiful scenic area but you do need your own transport. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We attended the restaurant and enjoyed the meals and the breakfast was wonderful with homemade produce. We stayed in the room downstairs which is near the kitchen and very noisy. The outside path was outside the room and people looked in as they walked by, a room upstairs would be perfect.
