An absolutely stunning place to stay, near Epernay, in the heart of the Champagne country. We loved this ancient chateau (medieval, with 17th and 18th century additions). Our room had a view over the moat, with swans and ducks! Large car park in the ground of the château. Free wifi. The breakfast in the main chateau was good, with local cheeses, jams, etc, and the dinners in the Orangerie were an experience worthy of a Michelin star (reserve ahead). Surroundings are very quiet. All members of staff were friendly and efficient. My only negative comment: I would have preferred a more powerful and efficient shower.

I think what we enjoyed most at Château d'Etoges was the food and ambiance of the surroundings. It is a beautiful castle and even though we ordered the cheapest menue at the restaurant (45EUR/person) the food was amazing and more than enough to make us satisfied. Our favourite part was when the server rolled in an entire serving cart full of different kinds of cheeses to choose from. The breakfast buffet was also fantastic with silverware and champagne. All service at the castle was great though it did not feel very personal. My only disappointment with the stay was the rooms. First of all we were two couples travelling together (and who had booked together) and we ended up in very different room types for the same price. It seemed like it could vary a lot within the castle whether you got a room with a tiny window in knee-height and low cieling, a room with windows that we could barely see out through up at the top of all the stairs or a room with high cielings and a nice view of the garden - all for the same price. It's just never nice to feel like you got a lower standard room than your friends. Further, the beds in both rooms we had were a lot harder than we and our friends would have preferred. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the castle very much, but it was mainly because of the fantastic food. A nice bonus was the walking distance to other champagne houses.

Chateau Etoge has developed from good via very good to excellent during the 20 years we have visited the place! Especially the staff in restaurant has improved very much since our latest visit. We like to go back soon!

A very comfortable stay in this charming chateaux. Excellent restaurant. Have stayed several times as we travel through France, never disappoints.

Celebration stay
3.6
Overall our stay was a good one. The purpose of our holiday was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Even though the personnel at the chateaux were aware of this there was absolutely no recognition of it, not even to wish us a happy anniversary. We were very disappointed. The only other thing I would add is that if you want to use the spa you had to pay an extra €18 per person. There wasn't much to the spa, I thought it was dark and quite gloomy and I certainly wouldn't have paid extra to use it. Prior to staying at the chateaux we had stayed at the Best Western in Reims that also had a spa, a much nicer spa with a pool which was included in the price of our stay.

Charming & beautiful chateau and grounds. Very well kept. Food was amazing. Not the place to go if looking for excitement. The place to go for relaxing quietly. The only suggestion I would make is that it would be nice if there was a bar area with a bar. The lounge would be a great bar area where guests could go to enjoy a drink and socialise.

I am not sure what the room in the old building is like. We had a room above the restaurant and it had a handicap bathroom which I would rather not have until I need one.

Superb stay very friendly and efficient staff. Organised a great trip around a local champagne house (Champagne Breton wellworth a visit).Delightful surroundings relaxed ++++. Downside is very trivial but important if you are a Marmite addict- no Marmite for breakfast!! It would also be a good idea if you could get a meal other than a gastronomic in evening if you are staying more than one night.

We did love our stay again, we came here also in 2004. The hotel is fantastic to view from the inside as well from the outside. It does have to faces. The front is totally different from the back and we do love the water surrounding with the ducks in it. I did make some film with my drone and i'll hope to come back to shoot more. On the opposite side you can taste Champagne in a Champagne-house, it is our favorite drink... but they do have an enormous amount of Champagnes in the restaurant aswel!

Great fairytale hotel! This Château has everything you would want in a modern hotel, spa, internet, a great restaurant, great staff, but retains all of its elegance and charm as a historic building. Super! We even had a row in the moat which was great fun!
