Michel Lesclauze

« Tuck in to roast woodpigeon, ceps and other typical Landes dishes in front of the large fireplace! »

Description of the establishment

It was March, or possibly April. The house was hidden away in the Sabres woods, near Mont-de-Marsan. To tell the truth, we had forgotten where we were. Night was falling, silent and punctual. Something, a kind of magical force, was floating in the air. We decided it was time to go indoors, but could not decide between the winter and summer lounges. From the park, we could see Michel Lesclauze in the kitchen, preparing a thousand delicious surprises. Suddenly we understood that something had changed: spring was here. Today places like this, where you can still see the seasons changing, are precious.

Auberge des Pins
A good hotel with exceptionally good food
4.4
We stumbled on this hotel by chance - we wanted to stay somewhere in the countryside on the way to Bordeaux traveling by car from Bilbao. We chose well. The location was interesting, in a part of France we knew nothing about. The hotel amenities were pleasant enough, nothing exceptional, but what really made our stay memorable was the superb evening meal we had at the hotel. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for: traditional French haute cuisine, done extremely well. The next day we set off to find the vineyard where our evening's wine came from and were successful, buying a case to take home. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to eat an exceptional meal in (very) rural France.
Auberge des Pins
Good restaurant with excellent food, lovely room but did smell very musty/damp
